Poverty drops, but a slowing economy likely to expand numbers of poor in Florida
Poverty declined in Florida from to 12.5 percent in 2001 to 12.1 percent in 2007, according to data released today by the Census Bureau. But a slumping economy, growing unemployment and a regressive tax policy that have all taken affect since January jeopardize Florida's gains.

National group features HSC, local stories

Legal resources help immigrants find their way
The Immigrant Advocacy Center joined HSC in creating legal resources for immigrants in the community. The resources are available in English, Spanish and Creole. Also available on pdf.
