Policy Papers Canaries in a Coal Mine
Like many low-wage workers, an
immigrant taking time off for illness or the illness of a child is out
of the question. Undocumented workers face a particularly dehumanizing
brand of disposability: not only invisible to their employers, who can
readily replace them, they are also invisible to the public and live in
constant fear of deportation. Canaries in a Coal Mine features stories that illustrate the problems immigrants face trying to navigate our healthcare system.
